I’m Steve Smithson and I started my quest to find my ancestors in the 1990’s before the age of computers. I ran the Smithson One Name Study as a member of the Guild of One Name Studies but let my membership lapse as life got in the way of research – as it still does!
I’ve resurrected this site to publish some material that may be of interest. Most of my research is centred on North Yorkshire which is the where the largest concentration of the Smithson name occurs. It also happens to be where my ancestors come from. I also have an interest in the following:
